Red Mountain Garden Club was founded in February 1927 in Birmingham Alabama, and has been a member of The Garden Club of America since 1933. Founded in 1913, The Garden Club of America is a volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization comprised of 199 member clubs and approximately 18,000 club members throughout the country. The purpose of The Garden Club of America is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence and publications, and to restore, improve, and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement.

As a GCA member club, Red Mountain Garden Club embraces the mission of The Garden Club of America, as evident through our local involvement and engagement with groups and organizations dedicated to the environment and beautification of Birmingham. In particular, Red Mountain Garden Club is most proud of the founding, design, and continued support of the Memorial Garden at the Birmingham Museum of Art, a gift to the city made by the club in 1959. For over 40 years, the members of RMGC have organized an annual greenery fundraiser that helps provide financial support to sustain our commitment of the gift of the Memorial Garden.

As well as being a member of The Garden Club of America, RMGC is also a member of The Garden Club of Alabama, Inc., Third District Federated Garden Clubs, and the Shades Valley Council of Garden Clubs.

Red Mountain Garden Club is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization.
